On The Indian Question
My own personal misunderstood rant
Id like to start this rant off by saying has anyone gotten any of those ig reels thats like an indian kid doing a backflip and kicking some random bystander in the head like a professional wrestler? If not those are pretty funny, but you’re gonna have to find that on your own time. Sorry, I’m in a rush. There is very little that infuriates me lately is the current reaction to the Indian diaspora online. Lets get a couple of things clear first.
1. No one is saying its wrong to want them deported/visas restricted from India. There seems to be a disconnect between indian immigrants and reality. One might call it an obsession. Theres even pretty reasonable people otherwise giving takes like “I’d rather have a million illegal mexicans in my country instead of ten legal indians.” That’s not a real solution.
2. They’re not that disgusting no matter how you look at it. And I say this as someone who regularly gets upset even viewing minorities, fat people, and especially fat women minorities with disability scooters around, and I have no love for Indian people. I find their food utterly repulsive, their country’s foreign policy is borderline criminal, and worst of all is how polluted they have made instagram and youtube. It’s so bad that if you just look up youtube on a private tab and click on the first link it will redirect to you to a Bengali song compilation.
3. Yes, there are worse minorities, especially given the relatively rich Indians that live in america (Not counting the ones that crossed the border from canada in detroit/seattle). They are not here to invade this country (moreso then any other immigrant group). They’re here specifically because their country is dog poor, and their Prime Minister encourages their citizens to learn western languages (as best as they can), and their government helps their citizens to expediate visas to the west to work and send home their money. Its most certainly plundering, similar to most central american countries, but not exactly the invading and converting muslims want to do to europe.
Anyway, you get the gist, a significant amount of their economy is taking their massive population and sending them abroad to plunder the west’s (and china too!) wealth. Similar to pakistan etc etc. BTW, and this should come as a shock to no one, Indians have mostly no qualms about this policy and even support this in places where its clearly not benefical to them, like the UAE.
Now heres where I finally get around to what I was saying. People on X (formerly twitter) Home of the Epic Memes(TM) Powered by Grok 6.7 Funded by Dogecoin will know that when Vivek had his Christmas crash out, a lot of alt maga people and rw twitter in general started to post about how bad Indians were and how we did not want any visas for them. Fuentes in particular was saying long before anyone else in early 2024 that Trump was planning to flood the country with H-1B visas to offset any deportation gains (Trump2admin has been very strict on H-1Bs and visas in general) and among the Online RW, Indians are seen as among the most disgusting untouchables of our time, which I’ve never really understood. I’ve never had a problem with indian people in real life. I have ofc some indian classmates and professors who aren’t competent but they don’t bug me anymore then a professor usually does. Maybe coworkers are different but I’ve been annoyed mostly more by hispanics in my personal life. Online I’ve actually gotten along pretty well with indians, some ifunny vets on here might remember some of the members of iAsia were Indian/pakistani. There is a pretty unique new phenomenon of indians/hindus online in large numbers on Instagram and especially twitter. In 2018-2021 they were still seen as a joke, Indian superpower 2020! memes and memes about T series subscribers not necessarily being real or consuming slop. These people are not a small part of the internet now. Twitter’s fastest growing region of users are Indian, and Indians make up the most of Instagrams users.
What’s also very interesting about the new wave of Indians online (on Western social media) is that it hasn’t caught on to girls in India yet. Most western social media users in India are predominately male (2/3rds on IG, probably more on twitter) and as a result most Indian sides of twitter are predominately Male focused (IE discussing sports, porn, foreign policy, and war/conflict). This has kind of developed two camps of indians you can meet online. The first are the elite human capital indians, such as the Siddarth guy above (who hosts a lot of spaces to discuss Indian American immigrants plans, I’d recommend listening if you’re free, its very funny) These guys have no qualms about subverting their host country and want to do everything in their power to ensure immigration visas/work visas stay or get expanded in America, saying stuff like, without Indian talent the American tech industry will fall apart. You can think of these people as the Indian liberals (not leftists, liberals) very similar to other groups of liberals in America. Even though they are liberals, they support Vivek. These are the Indian CEO’s, software engineers, middle class, and etc (theyre very fond of showing that graph that shows that indian immigrants to the us make more then most other groups). You get the idea. Then in growing numbers now, you have the Hindu nationalist groups, which think of them as Indian right wingers in terms of what they believe. They dislike Europe, especially the UK, don’t really enjoy Russia, dislike China, and above all, dislike Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world. Historically they have liked America quite a bit, but ever since the whole christmas vivek thing they have been quite enraged at america, especially white people. (Mostly the internet rw is responsible for that, not that its important) They were shocked to learn that white people actually didn’t like them at all and viewed them as disgusting (before this most of them assumed indian hate online was a product of muslims) And above all, and this is the important thing, these people try to defend Indias “PR” online. One of them wised up and realized that a lot more people in the globe hate america (including americans!) then are americans and view posts hating on Americans and especially white people (They also hate on Korea and Japan as well, as well as Ukraine and Argentina) that do very well in the numbers as helping Indias PR globally. Unlike the former group who speak actually pretty impressive english all things considered, these people are the common indians and speak very broken english, and their posts are very nonsensical and make zero sense. A good example just look up the account Desi King and look for any of his hate posts on americans/white people in between the usual engagement bait and hate on Muslims
Okay, finally to my point. The former group is located in the US or Europe in most cases, while the latter is almost entirely located in India. You have to be able to take the former seriously, and ignore the latter entirely. They’re only a couple steps above the black history part of twitter that claims they invented everything on earth. Also, I don’t particularly enjoy doing this, but if you are a white person, you do need to know better. There’s almost no reason to overly hate indians online unless youre hating on every single immigrant group. And please do not ever pretend like you’re that much better then them online. There’s nothing lamer then reminding them how much better we are, we all know so, but we’re not exactly the most perfect people in the world either. Theres a weird adage people like to post thats something like “We don’t care if youre pakistani or indian, you’re all the same shit colored jeet” which always really pisses me off. It might sound pretentious, but if you seriously don’t know the difference between even a pakistani or an indian you are extremely belittling yourself and making a bad impression of us all. In my experience with Indians, a lot of the stereotypes are false. A lot of them are bro-ish, and they are neither particularly smart nor particularly dull (in America. In India, they are quite low IQ). They don't come off as very complacent and collectivistic in the way that Asians do, but they're more clannish in an explicit way of just being unashamedly biased towards fellow Indians. They're not the smelliest race either. It's really India that is smelly. Indian-Americans aren't very smelly.
Indian Chauvinists and people who are superfluously anti-India are two sides of the same coin in my opinion. People whose political grievances are motivated by flame-wars, because they essentially live online. There are many good reasons to be anti-India. Indians in America are ingroup-oriented, but outwardly extremely woke, and they want their cousins from India to take over American tech. They're sort of what Jews were 70 years ago. Being someone tech-adjacent, I am quite concerned about H1-B workers for my own sake, but a lot of the people I talk to online who spend all day posting empty anti-Indian content would be much better off worrying about Mexicans or Haitians. Their fixation on Indians comes from their constant interaction with Indians on the internet, and likewise the fixation of Indian Chauvinists on White people who they have never actually seen in-person comes from them constantly interacting with White people through the internet.
